Mission Briefing : Hunt down an invisible enemy.

The Infinitum Research Intercept Squad (I.R.I.S.) is on the hunt for a fugitive, the subject of a secret genetic experiment, who is known only as Subject 617. The Good News : The IRIS team is well trained, well armed and co-ordinated.

The Bad News : The genetic manipulation has given Subject 617 enhanced speed, mobility and incredible strength - he can pounce like a tiger, cling to any surface and is known to pin victims up for feeding. Worst of all, the experiments have rendered him nearly invisible to the human eye. This is why he is simply known as ... The Hidden

You might be in for a surprise?

Ok, so that didn't entirely work, but it does sort of cover the topic of the post - our forum buddy Deathtoll_David has been busy working on BumperCars 2 and he's been poking other mod teams to see if he can't include a suitably themed bumper car. When we saw the quality of his previous tributes, we could do nothing but jump to say yes!

Without further ado, I provide you with suitably sexy imagery of the IRIS Bumper Car, with a bumper that's guaranteed to gut you like a fish!

Quick fix

We've tracked down the issue causing the missing sonic alarm sound effect (we're not entirely sure why it happened, but there you go) - and are releasing a small download (that's server side only) to fix it up.

You should also grab this file if your server has issues with IRIS with missing heads.

Beta 4b release!

While it's not Beta 5, we felt that enough's enough and that we had to get something out the door. So while this update does nothing on the code side of things (we didn't want to go back and try and jury-rig the old code base into a releaseable state - the additional problems that would create would be endless!) it does update the mods steamappid to 215 (we appreciate that a number of players and servers have already done this, but with this update everyone should be on the same playing field and we should have no more problems with one group being unable to play on certain servers!)

We've scrapped manor (if you've been following the forum, you'll be aware of this) but rather than leave you with one less map, we've fixed up hdn_origin by removing the lag inducing shakes and replaced manor with the much more atmospheric and decidely sexy hdn_decay (see if you can guess the influences!)

Aside from those major changes, this update includes a number of alterations to materials and models and includes a whole new look and feel to the menus and front end! Though keep in mind, we have held back some art updates for beta 5, just so we've got some new shinies to go along with the new gameplay mode and feature set.

So, without further ado - the download links (note, these are all available on our downloads page)

(NOTE: this update breaks compatibility between 4a clients and 4b servers (and vice versa) due to material alterations.
